Let’s talkTHE CORE IDEA
People don’t always act on what they know. They act on what they believe.
Every leader works from a story about themselves and their role. That story shapes what they believe, how they lead and, in the end, how they perform.
If I don’t do it myself, it won’t be done properly. You take over. People don’t feel trusted. They stop taking ownership and don’t grow.
If I challenge them, I’ll damage the relationship. You put off the conversation. Poor performance continues, frustration builds and the problem gets bigger.
I must get it right before I act.You keep thinking and checking. Decisions wait, people lack direction and work stands still.
Work on the behaviour alone, and it holds until the pressure arrives. Work on the story, and the behaviour follows.
Change the story, and leadership changes. Change leadership, and performance follows.
We work from the inside out: clear on the problem, honest about the story behind it, practical about what changes.
Three patterns come up most often. Each one has a cost.
Still doing the work.Stepping in, fixing, saving the day.
You become the bottleneck. Your team waits instead of growing.Avoiding the hard conversation.Expectations stay unclear. Poor performance is left alone.
Standards slip. Your best people carry the load, and they notice.Holding back your voice. You know what you think, but don’t say it with conviction.
Decisions slow down. People aren’t sure where they stand.Every pattern has a story behind it.
The story once made sense. It may even be what made you successful. Now it’s in the way.
We work on it in your real work. You get simple tools, try them, and adjust them week by week.
Where we practise
You don’t announce the change. People notice it. What they see is how we measure progress.
Who notices
Clarity on what matters. Action where it counts.
The aim is clearer decisions, stronger ownership and people who can rely on one another.

Ask about team supportWhen the business needs more people ready to lead.
Prepare people to take greater responsibility, develop others and understand the business beyond their own work.
Ask about the programmeSome young adults leave school or university with a qualification. Many leave with none, because the system let them down. Either way, most face the same questions on their own: Who am I? Where am I going? Role models are scarce. Families are stretched. Social media fills the gap.
I work pro bono with young adults, 18 to 28, whatever their starting point. I help them find direction and step into who they really are: what matters to them, how to lead themselves and how to show up for others.
It’s the same thinking I use with senior leaders, made simple, and built around five things:
It started with two young adults. It’s now growing into a small pilot, funded by people and businesses who believe what I believe: if our young people can’t find their way, none of us has a future.
For more than 35 years, I’ve led teams, run businesses and worked alongside leaders facing difficult decisions. I know the pressure of being accountable for results while helping people grow.
My experience spans senior corporate roles, work across Africa and hands-on support for business owners and their teams. Along the way, my own life has made me stop and ask: what really matters?
WHAT MATTERS TO YOU · 6 MINAsk yourself the same questionThat question is at the heart of my work.
I’m interested in the person behind the role: what they care about, what they believe and what keeps getting in their way. I listen carefully, challenge honestly and help them turn understanding into practical action.
What matters to me is seeing people grow into responsibility, with the confidence to make decisions, the humility to listen and the courage to have the conversations that matter.
We can be honest about what needs to change and still treat people with dignity.
